40 years in music
Sheila Majid, Malaysia’s contemporary pop and jazz queen, has had a remarkable career spanning over four decades, breaking cultural barriers. In 1986, her album “Emosi” made her the first non-Indonesian to win Indonesia’s BASF Award for Best Female R&B Musician. She gained international acclaim with sold-out shows in Japan and at London’s West End Royalty Theatre, becoming Malaysia’s first artist to perform at these prestigious venues. Her 1990 album “Legenda,” a tribute to Malaysian legend P. Ramlee, became her best-selling album. Sheila has collaborated with international musicians and performed at renowned venues such as Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS, earning numerous awards including “Best Pop Album” and “Song of the Year” at Malaysia’s Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) Awards for “Ku Mohon”. Her latest single, “Moving On,” is an empowering city pop track encouraging resilience and self-belief, continuing her legacy as a celebrated and enduring artist.
